Concordia University cuts programs offered on Ann Arbor campus to reduce costs

ANN ARBOR, Michigan. – Many students at Concordia University’s Ann Arbor campus will not be in class next year.

After a meeting in June, the liberal arts school’s Board of Regents gave its administration the green light to adjust academic programs offered at the Ann Arbor campus after the end of the 2024-25 school year . Instead, programs will move to online environments through Concordia University of Wisconsin.

Only seven programs – four undergraduate and three graduate – will remain on campus.

“Students at the Ann Arbor campus can complete their degrees online or transfer to the Wisconsin campus,” wrote Leah Dvorak, CUAA vice president for academics and chief academic officer, in a June 20 statement. statement.

“Students were invited to webinars with their deans, program directors and academic advisors to discuss the changes and ask questions. All students will receive individualized academic advising in the coming weeks to develop personalized graduation plans,” Dvorak said.

If they choose to transfer, the school has offered to help students obtain information about pathways to other universities based on agreements being developed by CUAA.

Dvorak said a committee was formed to create a new model and vision for undergraduate programs in Ann Arbor.

Concordia Ann Arbor is also dropping its athletic programs after the 2024-25 year.

The announcement was made earlier in June after the school reported a $9 million financial deficit in the last fiscal year.
