Newly proposed WR sets return visit to Clemson, discusses decision timeline

After taking a spring visit to Clemson, Dillon Alfred patiently stayed the course, waiting for an offer from Clemson.

While the 4-star forward (Saraland, AL) would commit to Ole Miss in April, in the back of his mind he was still looking for that offer from the Tigers. In early June, Alfred and his mother returned to campus to practice at Dabo Swinney High School’s camp and were one of the nicest receivers to attend this summer. It was the only camp he attended this summer.

After this training session, the Clemson coaching staff advised him to remain patient, because the offer was coming. Three weeks later, they kept their word, with Alfred making the offer public on Monday, about a half-hour after announcing his departure from Ole Miss.

“I mean, it’s a blessing,” Alfred told the Clemson Insider. “I’m happy. I love Clemson. I love everything that’s happening there.

For Alfred, there’s not just one thing that stands out about Clemson. That’s the whole package. From the unique culture Swinney has cultivated within the program to his relationship with the coaches on staff.

“Basically, it’s the environment and the coaching staff,” Alfred said. “I love that coaching staff there. The facilities, the campus. I love everything about Clemson. The history they have there. Again, I like the coaches there and I like the way they treat their players. »

Add in the fact that he feels like what the Tigers are doing on offense really fits his skill set, and it almost seems like the perfect match.

“I feel like I could fit in perfectly,” Alfred said. “My skills, my talent and what I do on the field allow me to fit in perfectly. »

The blue-chip talent has already informed coaches that he plans to attend the All In Cookout on July 25.

“Basically, I’m just going to spend a little more time there,” Alfred said. “My whole family goes there and my family loves it there. Spend more time talking to the coaches and just enjoy our time there. Looking forward to having a good time and having good conversations with the coaches.

However, with his recruiting just reopened, Alfred isn’t going to rush into a decision, and he maintains there is no pressure coming from Clemson for him to make one. Right now, he’s looking to make one by early August, but he also added that it’s possible it could happen sooner. Maybe even before the meal.

“It’s possible, but I don’t really know. Everything can happen.”
