The famous canceled drama whose fate is suddenly in the hands of Netflix users

Netflix users hold the fate of a new title in their hands after the addition of a series that was unfairly canceled last year.

In December, streaming service Max revealed that the acclaimed drama Warrior had been deleted, two years after his resurrection.

However, all hope is not lost for the series, which has drawn comparisons to HBO’s ban drama. Boardwalk Empire and the global success of the BBC Peaky Blinders since its debut in 2019.

The show, set during the Tong War in the 1870s, stars Andrew Koji as a Chinese martial arts prodigy who arrives in San Francisco to reunite with his sister. However, he soon finds himself embroiled in Chinatown’s deadly power struggle. A must-see for martial arts fans, Warrior is based on an idea by Bruce Lee for the 1972 television series Kung Fuwith David Carradine in the lead role.

Earlier this month, the series was added to Netflix in several territories in a collaborative deal with Max – a subsidiary of Warner Bros Discovery.

WarriorThe journey was tumultuous to say the least. After debuting in 2019 on Cinemax, the show was inadvertently canceled when it was revealed that the network would no longer produce original titles.

Max stepped in to save the series in 2021, with the final season arriving in summer 2023, but Max has since called off many of his shows. WarriorThe cast of , including Koji, Olivia Cheng, Jason Tobin, Kieran Bew and Dianne Doan, have all shared the hope that the series can find a new fandom on Netflix, which could result in a fourth season being ordered.

This development would be wonderful news for fans, who were left wanting more after the acclaimed third round ended. ,

Manufacturing WarriorWhat is even more unfair is that it was universally acclaimed; it currently sits at 94 percent on the overall rating site Rotten Tomatoes.

Previously speaking about the future of the series, creator Jonathan Tropper said Deadline: “Warrior is a show that simply refuses to die.

“Through platform and regime changes, the writers, producers, cast, crew and our stunt team have continued to create something powerful, relevant and extremely unique. And now, thanks to Netflix, we have another chance at life, and I’m thrilled for everyone involved that millions more viewers around the world will discover it.”

In Netflix’s global top 10, the series is number eight – and seems to be growing every day. It should be noted that there are several key countries in which Warrior is not yet available, and the UK is one of them.

One of the main reasons for the series’ success is the performance of Koji, an actor, writer and martial artist who has worked as a stunt double in films such as Fast & Furious 6. His other credits include the Brad Pitt action film High-speed train.

The actor, who performed with the Royal Shakespeare Company, will next be seen in the Netflix spy series black dove Since The Lazarus Project creator Joe Barton. He will appear in the series alongside Keira Knightley, Sarah Lancashire and Ben Whishaw.
