How to attract butterflies with landscape plants? Free virtual program offered in July

Milkweed is the preferred host plant for monarch butterflies, but for tiger swallowtails it is only a source of nectar. Females of the beloved black and yellow swallowtails seek out tulip trees as their preferred host plant.

But what about zebra swallowtails, azure blues and painted ladies?

Nature likes to promote biodiversity where different species of butterflies seek out a variety of host plants.

Find out what plants you can add to your landscape to provide forage and habitat for butterflies…and maybe a moth too!

This free virtual presentation sponsored by the University of Tennessee Arboretum Club will be pre-recorded due to the July 4 holiday and sent the first week of July to all who register, according to a press release.

Michelle Campanis, UT Arboretum education coordinator, and Stephen Lyn Bales will speak via Zoom. Registration is required to receive your Zoom link at www.utarboretumsociety.org under Programs. Contact Michelle at [email protected] with any questions or registration issues.
