DIMARZIO: Tottenham offered Richarlison + cash to Newcastle in failed bid for Isak

Now we are talking. Our good friend Gianluca DiMarzio has published a report – actually more of a sentence, more of an offhand mention at the bottom of an article about a completely different player – which states that Tottenham have made Richarlison a plus-cash offer to Newcastle for attacking Alexander. Isaac. She was rejected.

…Wait, is that all? Yeah. That’s all we get. Just Richy and an undisclosed sum of money for one of the in-form young strikers in the Premier League last season. Isak has been phenomenal, scoring 21 league goals last season and two more in the Champions League. He’s a player Spurs would have had their eye on a few years ago before Saudi Arabia swooped in to take over sporting player Tyneside.

Isak would be a fantastic addition to Tottenham’s attack, but you can pretty much understand why Newcastle rejected him out of hand – they reportedly quoted Chelsea a £200m transfer fee a while ago and As much as I like Richy, I don’t think offering a The aging striker who suffered from injury last season as compensation weight is going to shake things up all that much (although I suppose it depends on the size of the pile of money).

It’s also unclear why DiMarzio would have the scoop on a potential transfer involving a Swede and a Brazilian between two English teams, although I suppose he’s connected enough that it might be a thing now. Never mind.

Anyway, it’s a minor detail but when it comes to transfer rumors, the minor details are all we have at the moment, so enjoy them as much as you can. Plus, if it’s true, it’s proof that Spurs are willing to do whatever it takes to win, and that’s pretty nice.
