The federal and state drug and weapons charges stem from a traffic stop on I-80 in central Pennsylvania.

WILLIAMSPORT — An Ohio woman who was a passenger in a vehicle stopped last September on Interstate 80 in Montour County has been charged with weapons and drug charges.

The indictment naming Denisse Rosado Martinez, 28, of Lima, was unsealed Tuesday in U.S. Middle District Court.

She also faces state police drug, drug paraphernalia and weapons charges, which she waived in Montour County Court.

The indictment charges him with possession of a 9mm handgun in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime and possession with intent to distribute fentanyl, cocaine, methamphetamine and morphine.

State police stopped the eastbound car Martinez was a passenger in Sept. 22 near Danville for a traffic violation.

Officer Matthew Lesher states in his affidavit that while speaking with the driver, he detected the odor of marijuana coming from the car and asked the driver to get out.

While talking to him, Martinez got out of the car and began walking away, the officer said. As he ordered her to return, the driver left and could not be located, the affidavit states.

Martinez gave Lesher permission to search his backpack and, according to the charges, discovered two vacuum bags containing approximately one kilogram of suspected cocaine, a package suspected of containing 0.25 kilograms of heroin and fentanyl, two packages of marijuana and a handgun with two loaded magazines.

Seven bags containing various types of pills, including suspected fentanyl and ecstasy, were found in a gym bag containing women’s clothing, the affidavit states.

The drugs were expected to be delivered either to Newark, New Jersey, or somewhere between Lancaster and Reading, state police said.

Martinez was originally jailed in lieu of $50,000 bail, but in October that was reduced to $10,000 and she was allowed to post $1,000, which she did . She was not arraigned on the federal charges.
