Costco recalled 567,000 portable chargers after two homes reportedly caught fire

Portable charger models sold exclusively at Costco are recalled because they may overheat while charging, posing a fire and burn hazard.

According to a June 20 notice from the Consumer Safety Protection Commission, the recall affects more than 567,000 myCharge POWER HUB All-In-One 10,000mAh portable chargers with model numbers AO10FK-A, AO10FK-B, and AO10FK-C. T,

The portable chargers are black and include two attached cables and retractable wall prongs for recharging the power bank. “myCharge” is printed on the front surface along the long edge and the model number is printed on the back.

The chargers were sold exclusively at Costco stores nationwide and online at Costco.com from January 2022 to November 2023 for approximately $40.

So far, there have been a total of 120 reports involving portable chargers overheating. According to the safety advisory, myCharge received five incident reports, including two reports of residential fires, resulting in approximately $165,000 in property damage. Costco received 115 returns of portable chargers mentioning melting, expansion, smoke, fire, combustion, explosion or sparking. No injuries requiring medical attention were reported.

Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled portable chargers and contact myCharge to obtain a free replacement portable charger.
