Cheshire’s Geronimo festival faces second cancellation, families express outrage over loss of booking fees | Cheshire live

Families have expressed their frustration, calling the cancellation of the Geronimo family party “an absolute farce.” The event, which was due to take place at Arley Hall in Cheshire next August, was canceled due to poor ticket sales.

Previously postponed from May 2023, festival organizer Simon Goldman cited “current economic conditions”, including “skyrocketing costs” and “significant compression” of household incomes, as reasons for the initial delay.

Goldman pointed out that unpredictable weather was a deterrent to potential attendees this year, saying it had made the festival “unsustainable in its current format.” He suggested that future iterations of the event could be held indoors to avoid weather-related issues.

However, the immediate result is hundreds of disappointed families, some of whom are unhappy about losing money since booking fees are not refunded.

“Every year there’s something,” Samantha Duffy commented on the announcement on Geronimo’s Facebook page, reports the Manchester Evening News.

“No surprise. An absolute farce,” added Steve Carpenter. He previously spoke to us when last year’s event was canceled, expressing his displeasure at receiving a face value ticket for this August instead of receiving a refund.
