Women can achieve anything at any age and nothing can stop them. Although few people agree with this statement, there are some remarkable examples that defy age stereotypes and inspire other women. One of them is Marissa Teijo, Aarieanna Ware, 71, made history this year when she became the oldest contestant to compete in the Miss Texas USA pageant. Although she didn’t win the competition, she impressed thousands with her talent and confidence. Aarieanna Ware won the crown on Saturday, June 22 in Houston. She is now ready to represent Texas in the Miss Universe pageant.

The Miss Universe Organization recently removed age limits for contestants over 18 in order to be more inclusive. This gave a better opportunity for married, divorced or pregnant women to participate. “I feel like all women now have a new stage of opportunity, strength and beauty,” Teijo was quoted as saying.

Who is Marissa Teijo?

Born on July 8, 1952, Teijo grew up in El Paso, Texas. She grew up on a farm and realized early on her great admiration for fitness. She has participated in various competitions, including the National Physics Committee event. Before entering the pageant, she was excited to help people in Texas and El Paso break stereotypes and motivate, especially women, to follow what they want, regardless of their age.

In her previous post on Instagram, she mentioned her incredible experience and wrote, “I am so excited to be a part of this new amazing experience as a contestant in the Miss Texas USA pageant. In doing so, I hope to inspire women to strive to be their best physically and mentally and to believe that there is beauty at any age.

Jackie Garcia-Martinez, CEO of Bazaar Models, which represents Teijo, expressed support for the representation of diverse women. He said: “I represent women of all shapes, ages and races. As I prepare my team for the Miss Texas pageant, I am excited to support these women who inspire me every day as a leader.

Teijo’s participation is notable, especially in light of the Miss Universe Organization’s recent rule change. Even though she didn’t win the crown, her participation reminds us that beauty has no age limit. Her journey challenges stereotypes and encourages women to be their best at all stages of life.
