‘Medical Today’ – Chelsea ready to finalize signing of striker with contract until 2030 on the table

Chelsea’s next summer deal is just days away.

The Athletic’s Adam Leventhal picked up where David Ornstein left off when discussing Marc Guiu’s move to the Blues. A week ago this was first mentioned and seemed quite distant – more like the striker was simply attracting vague interest in order to secure a new contract.

Now the opposite has turned out to be true: not only are Chelsea interested, but they appear to want to finalize their transfer this week. The youngster was offered a 6-year contract, with a salary good enough to see him leave his boyhood club.

Leventhal reports that Guiu is traveling to the UK today for his medical, with personal terms agreed and Chelsea happy to trigger his €6m release clause from Barcelona.

Its immediate future is not as certain. Leventhal writes that he is “viewed as a Chelsea acquisition rather than an acquisition for Strasbourg”, indicating he will stay put rather than being loaned out, which is South American defender Aaron Anselmino’s plan , also expected in the coming days. .

What this means for Chelsea’s team options

Whether this means our striker options for the season will only be Nicolas Jackson and Guiu, or whether another player could still arrive, is unclear. Certainly, the odds of bringing in an elite star are now longer than ever.

Guiu is still only 18 but he is quite developed physically and should be able to hold his own at least as a substitute for a while as he gets to grips with English football. Christopher Nkunku can also play at the top, of course, and there are players like Deivid Washington (who must now be wondering what he’s signed up for) whose future has yet to be decided.
