Exam Paper Leaks: Samrat: Strict law to curb paper leaks in state soon | Patna News

Patna: Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary on Thursday asserted that the state government would bring in a strict law to curb leaks of exam papers, even as the CBI made its first arrest in the NEET-UG row , arresting two people from Patna. The new law will be passed by the assembly in the next monsoon session of the state legislature, Choudhary said. “Following the instructions of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, the state government will introduce a strict law to check cases of question paper leaks in Bihar,” he told PTI. The monsoon session of the Bihar assembly and state legislative council will be held from July 22 to 26, spanning five sessions. “The central government has already notified the Public Examinations (Prevention of Unfair Means) Act, 2024, which aims to prevent unfair practices in public examinations and common entrance tests conducted across the country. Now, the Bihar government has also decided to bring in a law which will reduce paper leakage and malpractices in recruitment exams,” the Deputy CM said. Regarding the CBI probe into NEET-UG paper leaks, he said, “The investigation is ongoing. …no one will be spared. » The state was also recently rocked by the Bihar Public Service Commission’s Teacher Recruitment Examination (TRE 3.0) document leak case. The central government recently introduced the Public Examinations (Prevention of Unfair Means) Act, 2024, amid massive controversy surrounding the NEET and UGC-NET exams, which have been marred by allegations of paper leaks and irregularities. The Act aims to prevent unfair practices in public examinations conducted by major bodies such as Public Service Union Commission (UPSC), Staff Selection Commission (SSC), Railways, recruitment examinations in the banking sector and the National Testing Agency (NTA), among others.
