Woman Refuses to Attend Friend’s ‘No-Man’ Wedding, Calling It ‘Stupid’ and ‘Unfair’

When it comes to wedding guest lists, it can be difficult to narrow them down to the essentials. But one couple has left the internet baffled with their unusual approach, which involves a complete ban on male guests.

A woman has taken to social media to share how her friend Lisa, 34, and her fiancée Sophie, 35, decided to have a “no-man” wedding, the Mirror reports. She said: “I’ve known them both for a number of years and I’m (or was until this whole debacle) quite close to Lisa so I wasn’t surprised when they invited me to the wedding.

“However, the invitation stated that it was a ‘male-free’ event, meaning no men are allowed to attend. Although I am not a man myself, I felt this was a strange decision on their part.”

After the initial shock, the woman decided to message Lisa’s 28-year-old brother to try to understand the reasoning behind the ban, as she is on good terms with him. She said: “Apparently neither he nor his or Lisa’s dad are invited (he doesn’t know anything about Sophie’s family but assumes it’s the same with them) and he has no idea what who motivated this rule, he says that by now it has naturally turned into a family conflict. »

After learning of the “women only” policy, she decided to decline the wedding invitation, citing concerns about sexism. She said: “I think I wouldn’t have gone anyway because not allowing any men to be there seems weird to me, but especially in light of the information I received from Lisa’s brother, I called her to tell her that I will unfortunately be unable to attend.

“She asked me why and I tried to come up with a good excuse, but I’m a terrible liar, so after she asked me for a reason, I told her the truth: I think the no-men rule is weird and I don’t want to be involved in it. I didn’t tell her I contacted her brother, just that I wasn’t a fan of gender-segregated events.”

However, her stance led to her being called a “bad friend” by Lisa, who wanted a “female-centric” marriage. Seeking confirmation, she said: “I told her it would be women-centric anyway, given that both people getting married are women. She hung up and I didn’t hear from him again. ‘she has since, but Sophie has sent messages saying that I have internalized the misogyny Personally, I think I behaved reasonably, but Lisa and Sophie obviously disagree, so who is wrong in that. this situation ? “
