Arne Slot says Liverpool move is ‘a no-brainer’ after being offered a bargain summer deal

Former Liverpool player Glen Johnson believes the potential signing of Bayern Munich star Joshua Kimmich should be a “no-brainer” for the Reds.

The Germany international, who can play as a right-back or midfielder, has just one year left on his contract with Bayern, suggesting he could be sold by the Bundesliga side this summer.

And Johnson believes the addition of Kimmich to Arne Slot’s squad would provide a huge boost to Liverpool. “Yes, absolutely, especially if it’s available at a discounted price,” Johnson told Betfred when asked if it would be a good move.

“He played for a big club and won everything there was to win. These players are hard to come by, so if you can get him for less than you would usually have to pay, then it’s a no-brainer. They should do everything they can to sign him.

Johnson’s comments come as rumours have swirled that Liverpool are being offered the chance to sign Kimmich, with Mundo Deportivo claiming the Reds could step up their interest in a bid to beat Manchester City, Arsenal and Barcelona.

Kimmich is currently playing a starring role for Germany at EURO 2024 and his versatility means it would be interesting to see where he would play for new Reds boss Slot.
