Dick Vitale Announces New Cancer Diagnosis | National

Dick Vitale, a longtime ESPN college basketball commentator, is facing a fourth cancer diagnosis since 2021, he said Friday, and will undergo neck surgery Tuesday. “My lymph node biopsy report came in and it’s cancerous,” Vitale, 85, announced Friday afternoon on X while thanking his family and friends for their support. After battling melanoma and lymphoma in 2021, Vitale announced he would be cancer-free in 2022. Last year, however, he underwent radiation treatment for vocal cord cancer, delaying his return to ESPN. He has been commentating for the network since its founding in 1979, and was featured on his first college basketball broadcast, a DePaul win over Wisconsin. –Field Level Media
