PSG ‘ready to pay’ €250m for Kylian Mbappé replacement in record deal

Paris Saint-Germain are looking for a new superstar after losing Kylian Mbappe to Real Madrid this summer – and could be prepared to break the world transfer fee record again to do so.

Mbappé’s long-awaited move to Madrid was confirmed earlier this summer, and he will officially join the Spanish club in early July on a free transfer when his contract with PSG expires.

The 25-year-old scored 256 goals in 308 matches at the Parc des Princes, becoming PSG’s all-time top scorer during his time at the club.

Mbappe is currently on international duty with France at Euro 2024, as Les Bleus look to win the European Championships for a third time.

He has joined the Spanish and European champions, and there is the tantalising prospect of him joining the likes of Jude Bellingham, Vinicius Jr and Rodrygo in the coming seasons.

PSG have lost many talented stars in recent seasons, with Mbappe heading to Real Madrid, Lionel Messi to Inter Miami and Neymar to Saudi club Al Hilal.

Of course, PSG broke the world transfer record in 2017 when the French club paid Barcelona €222m (£188m) for Neymar, which was the Brazilian’s release clause at the Camp Nou.

And there is a chance that PSG could once again break the world transfer fee record for a Barca player as they search for a replacement for Mbappé.

According to Spanish publication Mundo Deportivo, PSG are prepared to shell out a remarkable €250m (£211m) for Barcelona star Lamine Yamal.

The 16-year-old has scored seven goals in 51 games for Barca and is currently on international duty with Spain at Euro 2024, with two goals in 10 caps.

In the past, it has been reported that PSG were willing to pay €200 million for Yamal’s services.

But with Mbappe’s departure, it appears the Parisian club are ready to increase their offer for Yamal.

However, despite offering a new world record transfer fee, Barca are making it clear that they do not want to sell Yamal under any circumstances.

The winger’s contract with Barca expires in the summer of 2026, so the Catalan giants are under no immediate pressure to sell the La Masia product.

But it remains to be seen whether the potential offer for Yamal proves too good to refuse.
