La Porte, IN – The Kiwanis Club of La Porte has announced that the 78th Annual Fourth of July Parade will indeed take place this year! The parade will take place on Thursday, July 4, beginning at approximately 10 a.m., preceded by the annual Run for Riley. The parade will follow the traditional route, heading west along Lincolnway from Tipton St. to Andrew Ave. in downtown La Porte.

When asked for details on the flyover, Kiwanis Club of La Porte President-Elect and Parade Chairman Tony Swedersky said, “We are pleased to announce that La Porte is confirmed for 10:13 a.m. CST.”

Flyover of the 4th by two F16s from the 122nd Fighter Wing, home of the Blacksnakes, from Fort Wayne, Indiana.

The Gate is not the first stop for these pilots, the parade will begin after the flyover. This is due to safety concerns along the route. Swedersky said, “Safety is our number one priority.

“A priority. Everyone wants to see the flyover and it’s hard to stop people from going out into the streets at that time. By delaying the parade until the pilots have appeared, we can ensure that the road is safe for the tanks to move forward.”
