Man City considering £100m double transfer for desperate to join Bayern Munich star and Spain’s Euro 2024 ace

JOSHUA KIMMICH is keen on a second spell under Pep Guardiola – even though his former coach could be packing his bags in 12 months.

Kimmich, a key figure in Germany’s assault on the Euros, has one year left on his contract with Bayern Munich and is on the target list of Real Madrid, Barcelona and Liverpool.

But Manchester City boss Guardiola is also interested… and the opportunity to reconnect with the manager who gave him his big chance at Bayern in 2015 points him towards the Etihad.

Kimmich’s camp want to know if Pep is considering signing a deal to stay beyond next summer, but the player is so determined to play under them again that he is willing to take his chance.

Although Bayern boss Vincent Kompany is happy for him to stay, they would rather let him leave now for around £40m than lose him for free for 12 months.

Kimmich, 29, is also keen to play more in midfield rather than at right-back, where he has spent most of his career – especially with Kyle Walker occupying that spot at the Etihad.

He believes the fact that Guardiola has always pushed defensive players to play a leading role, as he did with Joao Cancelo, makes this option more likely in Manchester.

And in the manager’s eyes, Kimmich’s versatility in providing quality in the engine room as well as real competition for Walker is a huge plus.

Real and Barca have been in contact with Bayern bosses but Kimmich – who is chasing around £200,000-a-week – is said to be in favour of the Premier League.

Meanwhile, City are still considering a return bid for Red Bull Leipzig midfielder Dani Olmo, 26, who was on their wish list 12 months ago.

Olmo, currently on Euro duty in Spain, has a £60m release clause which remains active until July 15.

City have a good relationship with Leipzig after signing Josko Gvardiol last year.

And the fact that Olmo would represent almost half of the fee Newcastle would want for Bruno Guimaraes makes him more attractive.
