Woman and daughter rescued from sealed room

HYDERABAD:

Police rescued a woman and her teenage daughter, buried alive by her in-laws in a room of a house, whose only door was sealed with a cinder block wall and plaster, in Latifabad.

Police arrived at the scene after receiving information through the 15 helpline and stormed into the house, demolishing the wall of the room where Tasleem Jahan, a widow, and her 14-year-old daughter Dua were trapped.

SHO Hashim Brohi said Tasleem and Dua were recovered safely from the scene and taken to the police station.

“Tasleem Jahan has named her brother-in-law Irfan Hussain, her deceased husband’s brother Suhail, Suhail’s wife Saima and Suhail’s brother-in-law Saleem in the FIR under sections 342, 448, 511 and 34 of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC),” the SHO said.

He added that efforts were on to apprehend the suspects who fled the scene. Tasleem Jahan claimed that his relatives had planned the murder attempt to take possession of his share of the property.
