Seabrook City Council to consider new freezer facility at July 2 meeting

A “world-class freezing facility” could come to Seabrook, depending on whether the City Council gives the green light at its July 2 meeting, city agenda documents show.

What do you want to know?

Among the several key items the Seabrook City Council will consider at its meeting is a joint meeting with the city’s Planning and Zoning Commission, or P&Z, to determine whether a roughly 135,000-square-foot freezer warehouse can come to town.

The project would span about 7 acres of land off Old Highway 146, according to city documents. As part of the meeting, city staff will also make a presentation on the topic.

Also on the agenda

Under the New Business item, the City Council will consider a budget amendment for the city’s American Rescue Plan Act funds. Documents show the City Council will consider allocating about $632,000 for park renovations.

Officials will also consider approving the creation of a new committee for boats and watercraft, documents show. The resolution on that item states that the city “recognizes the need to address issues related to abandoned boats, mooring and other marine-related concerns.”

The Seabrook City Council will meet at 5 p.m., first for the joint meeting with P&Z and then for its regular meeting, on July 2 in the City Council Chambers, 1700 First St., Seabrook, according to the city’s website.
