Watford consider loan move for Aston Villa defender

Watford are considering signing Aston Villa defender Lino Sousa on a loan deal, according to journalist Darren Witcoop.

The Hornets are selling midfielder Ismael Koné to Marseille for a substantial fee and are now considering arrivals.

The club are keen to sign a left-back and are looking at several players, including QPR’s Kenneth Paal.

Watford also have Aston Villa defender Sousa on their radar, who finished last season on loan at Plymouth Argyle.

The Hornets are considering a loan move for the 19-year-old.

That could appeal to Aston Villa, who signed Sousa from fellow Premier League club Arsenal in January this year.

Villa sent him straight on loan to Plymouth so he could play regular senior football to speed up his development.

Sousa finished the season with eight league appearances to his name, receiving a yellow card once, against Preston North End.
