Get ready for PS5 Pro: Performance improvements and more

There’s a lot of anticipation surrounding the new PS5 Pro, which is set to release later this year, especially since many people believe that Rockstar is purposely delaying the release of Grand Theft Auto 6 to wait for the new console. But how much better is it? Read on and we’ll tell you what we know.

While they haven’t released an exact release date for the PlayStation 5 Pro yet, most believe it will be sometime around the 2024 holiday season due to how they’ve updated their systems in the past.

CPU and GPU

The PS5 Pro will have the same processor, but it will run at a higher clock speed, bringing it to 3.85GHz, a 10% increase.

The GPU will benefit from significant improvements, particularly in terms of ray tracing. It will deliver 33.5 teraflops of power, more than triple the PS5’s 10.28 teraflops.

Memory and storage

The PS5 Pro will continue to use 16GB of GDDR6 RAM, but with a higher clock speed of 18 GT/s compared to the PS5’s 14 GT/s. Simply put, you will get a 28% increase in memory bandwidth.

Scaling Technology

The PS5 Pro will introduce machine learning-based upscaling technology called PlayStation Spectral Resolution (PSSR), which will upscale games rendered at 1080p to 4K with improved visual quality. The PS5 Pro will also have improved rendering efficiency and performance.

Cooling and design

The PS5 Pro is expected to use an improved version of the PS5’s liquid metal cooling system to handle the increased workload.
