All fireworks are illegal in Massachusetts, including sparklers, firecrackers and cherry bombs.

In Massachusetts, people using fireworks must have a certificate of competency to legally work professional fireworks. It is illegal for residents to use, possess or sell fireworks of any kind. This includes fireworks legally purchased elsewhere and imported into Massachusetts, sparklers, firecrackers, cherry bombs and other fireworks. Fines range from $10 to $1,000, and some violations could carry up to a year in prison.

There have been more than 500 fires and explosions caused by the use of illegal fireworks in Massachusetts over the past five years, including more than 200 people receiving medical treatment for burns and other injuries.
