Despite the cancellation, many exciting events are coming to Jennerstown Speedway

Jennerstown Speedway canceled racing Saturday due to exceptional storms in the evening. This brought to an end what had been an exciting stretch of racing, with some spectacular finishes.

Despite the setback, Jennerstown Speedway offers compelling competition across its six racing divisions and there is much more to come.

“Canceling Saturday’s race saves teams, officials and fans a lot of time and money because the forecast for Saturday night looked too dicey with a tornado warning and threats of rain and thunderstorms,” said Jennerstown Speedway General Manager Jared Adams. “I think we’ve had a lot of really competitive racing this season. Last week we had a side-by-side finish and a three-abreast finish. We’ve had a variety of different winners throughout the season.”

On July 6, Jennerstown will host its 6-division NASCAR Advance Auto Parts Weekly Series racing program as well as the Crown Vic Northeast Series. There will also be a fireworks display after the race.

Five days later, on July 11, Jennerstown will host the UARA Motor Mountain Masters, featuring Super Late Model drivers from across the country. Pro Stocks will also race that night.

Adams and company have posted on social media about some early race participants, none more prominent than NASCAR Cup Series driver Erik Jones.

“It means a lot to have a NASCAR Cup Series driver like Erik Jones racing at Jennerstown,” Adams said. “That was our plan in having a race Thursday night before Pocono weekend. Not only does he race, he wants to race here and that means a lot. Pit marshal Mike Belardi played a big role in getting so many drivers out there. He deserves a lot of credit for this race.

The Bill Awtey tribute evening will follow on July 13. The Late Models, Modifieds, Street Stocks, Chargers, 4-cylinders and Crown Vic Northeast Series will be in action.

CRS Super Trucks will be on display on July 20, with Late Models, Pro Stocks, Modifieds, Street Stocks and 4-cylinders also competing tonight.

Hall of Fame Night presented by Tri-Star on July 27 concludes a busy month of racing. This will be a traditional NASCAR Advance Auto Parts Weekly Series slate.

Adams believes the racing will heat up as local drivers compete for the season title in each division.

“I think the local riders are going to be hungrier, but the races have been very close so the points are tight,” Adams said. “It’s going to be a really exciting second half of the season.”
