Normani Cancelled BET Awards At Last Minute

Normani missed the 2024 BET Awards, where she was scheduled to perform on Sunday night, June 30.

About half an hour before this year’s show began, Normani shared an update regarding her appearance at the show via an Instagram Story.

In a message to fans, Normani revealed that she had been working hard to prepare a performance for the event, but was sidelined due to a “very serious accident during rehearsals.”

“I am devastated and I hate feeling disappointed,” wrote Normani, whose performance was announced in a BET Awards commercial earlier in the weekend.

“Unfortunately, due to my doctor’s orders, I am simply not able to perform this performance.”

Following this message, she posted a photo of herself on crutches, wearing a walking brace, with her knee wrapped in a bandage.

Normani’s note ended with an apology for having to pull out of the BET Awards so unexpectedly. “This is definitely NOT how I envisioned this weekend,” she said. “But I assure you I will be defending everyone from home tonight.”

The 2024 BET Awards honor those who contribute to Black culture as writers, musicians, filmmakers, philanthropists and more.

Normani, who was a member of girl group Fifth Harmony, released her long-awaited debut studio album, Dopamine, on June 14.
