Santa Fe Opera Announces Casting Change for ‘Don Giovanni’

The Santa Fe Opera has announced a cast change for Mozart’s “Don Giovanni.”

The company announced that soprano and aspiring singer Rachel Fitzgerald will make her Santa Fe Opera debut as Donna Anna in “Don Giovanni” with performances June 29, July 5 and 10. Santa Fe added: “Originally scheduled soprano Teresa Perrotta has withdrawn due to personal reasons. Casting for the role in the remaining performances will be announced at a later date.

Fitzgerald is currently studying with Heidi Grant Murphy and will sing in the choruses of “La Traviata,” “Elixir of Love” and “The Righteous” at the Sana Fe Opera. She has performed with the IU Philharmonic Orchestra and Oratorio Chorus, Mid-Ohio Opera, Cincinnati Opera and Opera Columbus.

The soprano will join a cast that includes Ryan Speedo Green, Rachael Wilson, David Portillo, Nicholas Newton, Liv Redpath, William Guanbo and Soloman Howard. Harry Bicket will direct Stephen Barlow’s production.
