SAS Australia fans were shocked on Monday night when the show’s contestants were asked to strip down to their underwear 20 minutes into the show, before getting completely naked in front of each other.

The famous recruits had been hit by tear gas during their first exercise and were quickly ordered to remove their uniforms.

“Whatever we tell you to do, do it… because most of you have shown us how undisciplined you are,” Ant Middleton, head of the executive staff, told them.

“I’m on top of you, watching you to see if your tiny brain can pick up any information.”

“When I say ‘go ahead,’ you will strip down to your underwear, put your sneakers back on and stay exactly as you are,” he added.

Viewers were shocked by what they saw so soon after the series began, with one person tweeting: “OMG! They’re making them take their clothes off now. My goodness.”

“Stripping down to my underwear on national television would be enough for me. Seeya!” another added.

“Ladies, how about some practical underwear,” wrote one user.

“This show has turned haha,” someone else joked.

Brynne Edelsten was spotted wearing a plain brown bra and some wondered why she didn’t think to wear a sports bra.

“They all have briefs,” wrote another perplexed viewer.

“I’m so stressed now after watching this. I’m going to need Enya,” one person joked.

“OMFG that was intense,” someone else added.

Former SAS Australia star Candice Warner admitted Yahoo Lifestyle she didn’t expect Brynne to last long on the show.

“Brynne Edelsten is amazing to put her hand up and take a chance,” she says of the 38-year-old reality TV regular.

“And I think she’ll surprise a few people but I don’t know if she’ll be there towards the end.

“I don’t know if she has the physical stamina to go all the way. Mentally, she’s probably very tough, but physically, I don’t know if she’ll have it.”

Brynne ended up leaving the show after just six hours, citing a knee injury.
