Was this man caught cheating on the baby monitor?

There’s not much we know for sure about a viral clip recently posted to TikTok by DJ Key DMV Crank (@djkeycranknews) that has sparked all sorts of internet speculation about the cheating ways of an apparent parent who wasn’t entirely aware that he was partially visible on a baby monitor.

On the screen, we see a low-resolution video capture from a baby monitor that shows part of a sleeping baby while someone presumably watching the child scrolls through messages and other textual content on their smartphone. The text that DJ Key superimposed on the clip frames it as capturing a woman caught cheating (“She got caught cheating on the baby monitor”) via whatever was clear in the premiere capture generation of the monitor.

A little investigation in the desert of X (formerly Twitter) brings up a message from non-aesthetic things (@PicturesFoIder) that appear to be at least a generation clearer in terms of what is displayed on the monitor feed. This still provides no certainty about what is happening on screen, which may or may not be linked to any form of infidelity.

The audio accompanying the clip shows two women in what appears to be the start of a heated argument.

“I’m not going to sit here and get attacked.”

“Do you want to know something?”

“I’m not.”

“Do you know what you are? Do you know what you are? You’re a clown.”

” I am a clown ? »

“You are a clown.”

“Really?”

“Your whole life is a joke. »

So, was a dad caught cheating by the baby monitor?

If we use the “shadow of doubt” standard required for criminal trials in the United States, this is a case that even the most aggressive prosecutor in the country would not want to take on.

That didn’t stop the X/Twitter Peanut Gallery from having fun speculating and offering their take on what they were watching and hearing. And in a quick sociological snapshot, most commenters assumed the cheater caught on camera was a man.

“She caught him deleting the call log he had entered right next to it,” one wrote.

“Maybe just the contact name was enough,” suggested another.

And another romance-focused benefactor said, “Sometimes I don’t even need to read it, just knowing how a person texts can tell you everything you need to know.”

Then there was this question, which raises valid points about the very different ways in which men and women communicate: “I mean, look at all those damn messages that were sent by the other person…to the way of WOMEN. No man sends them that many messages, he was probably ignoring her and deleting the call log, she kept calling him. »

Of course, baby monitor footage is a great narrative tool in fiction, TV shows and movies, with real-life plots sometimes being captured and handed over to authorities.
