Aston Villa make offer to sign Mathis Lambourde

Rising Premier League giants Aston Villa have reportedly offered €5 million to sign 18-year-old French attacking sensation Mathis Lambourde from Stade Rennais.

According to a report from Abdel HamedMathis Lambourde is the subject of interest from Aston Villa regarding a possible move in the summer transfer window. The Villans have submitted a bid worth €5 million to sign the 18-year-old attacking sensation from Ligue 1 club Stade Rennais. However, it is unclear whether the offer will yield the desired result.

Who is Mathis Lambourde?

Mathis Lambourde has become the latest top prospect to emerge in his home country and rise to prominence. Hailing from Les Lilas, he began his youth career at Cosmos Saint-Denis FC before going through the academies of Les Lilas FC, Paris Saint-Germain and JA Drancy before joining Stade Rennais in 2021.

The French teenage sensation quickly rose through the ranks at Stade Rennais before breaking into the first team in September 2023. However, the 18-year-old has managed just 17 minutes of play in three appearances for the senior side, rotating mostly absent for the reserve team.

Nonetheless, Mathis Lambourde’s progress has not gone unnoticed, attracting the attention of several top clubs across Europe. A move to the Premier League could be on the cards, with Aston Villa among the Frenchman’s potential suitors as the summer transfer window approaches.

Premier League transfer on the horizon?

Aston Villa’s interest in Mathis Lambourde is understandable. The Villans are focused on creating a young core for the long-term benefit of the club. They have already signed Ian Maatsen from Chelsea, with Samuel Iling-Junior and Enzo Barrenechea set to arrive at Villa Park.

Lambourde has now emerged as a viable target, with Aston Villa likely considering him as a long-term replacement for the in-demand Jhon Duran. The Villans have stepped up their efforts to sign the 18-year-old French sensation by submitting an offer worth €5 million to sign him from Stade Rennais.

It is unclear whether the €5m offer will be enough to convince the Ligue 1 club to part ways with Lambourde, with the update providing no clarity on that front. It will therefore be interesting to see if Aston Villa can land the Frenchman in the coming weeks.
