Newcastle United want to take key step before considering selling Magpies star

Newcastle United are planning to get Sandro Tonali back into Premier League action before considering selling him, according to the Chronicle.

The Magpies thought they had got a bargain when they signed the Italian from AC Milan last summer, but Tonali made virtually no impact last season.

Tonali made eight Premier League appearances before being banned for breaching betting rules.

He has been linked with a possible return to AC Milan this summer, but it is not something Newcastle are currently considering.

Although the Magpies may consider cashing in on the Italian midfielder, they want to bring him back to the Premier League first.

Newcastle want to see Tonali get his career back on track and start rebuilding his reputation.

The club are also reportedly looking to recoup the £55million they paid to bring Tonali to St James’ Park in the first place.

Tonali scored in his first Premier League game last season as Newcastle crushed Aston Villa 5-1.

The Italian will be keen to make an equally good impression the next time Eddie Howe picks him in Newcastle’s squad next season.
