Viral video from Pune: Public anger over cancellation of IMAX screening of ‘Kalki 2898 AD’

Why should I compensate for my experience because of your negligence? We all took half a day off from our jobs to come here. You should have informed us of another theater option.

The customer demanded compensation: “You have to give us 10 vouchers per person if you can’t attend this show. Also, we are going to watch a movie here. I agree to any other movie. And if it goes past 11:30 pm, refreshments are at your expense. We won’t pay a single cent for that.”

The incident was highlighted in a post by Pavan Khedkar, who wrote: “My IMAX show has been cancelled. This is not good. People are angry with the cinema management. What a disappointment. IMAX Pune.”

The cancellation sparked wider debate on social media, with many users sharing their own frustrating experiences with the Cinepolis cinema at Westend Shopping Centre. Comments included: “Cinepolis Aundh is always like this. Millennium Inox Mall is the best” and “Westend IMAX still has problems”.

One user noted, “A more mature way to handle the situation without getting angry at the theatre owners.” Another added, “Same in Bangalore: @VegaCitySocial cancelled my IMAX show today, I was very disappointed.” Similar issues were reported in Chennai, with users mentioning cancelled IMAX shows.

Despite the setbacks, “Kalki 2898 AD” continues to attract significant attention and praise for its unique storyline and star cast. The management of Cinepolis Westend Mall is yet to release an official statement regarding the cancellation. However, Khedkar confirmed that the management had taken action and resolved the issue.
