His heartbroken daughter sent messages to her late father to comfort him. Then one day, she received a reply.

People grieve the loss of their loved ones. To cherish their memories or simply remember them, people do many things to cope with grief, such as sending a message or leaving a voicemail to their number. But what if you get a response from that number? In a similar scenario, a woman sent a message to her father’s old phone number and was shocked to get a response. Nilufar “Nelly” Nizam, who goes by @nellyscous on TikTok, shared her experience and screenshots of her messages in a video.

The heartbreaking message she sent read: “Hi dad, it’s been 5 months since you left. I miss you so much. I wish you were here next to me. The pain of losing you has been the thing the hardest I’ve ever experienced. I love you so much. I’m so upset that you’re no longer here. But I will always keep our memories alive. I can’t imagine that you’ll never be with me again. I miss dad.” This message was sent on May 29, 2023. She received a reply that read, “Oh my God! I’m so sorry.”

@kandyyaviilaa said: “It’s probably the worst feeling ever, especially when you see their name pop up, thinking you’ve woken up from this terrible nightmare to realize they’re really gone. » In an interview with PEOPLE, Nizam shared that his father passed away on January 17, 2023, which changed his life. She said growing up, her relationship with her father was great and he was always “so loving and caring and intelligent.” “He taught me many great things in life and gave me advice that helped me improve my future. He was a man who knew a person from the first interaction, so I always trusted his judgment,” she said.

After his parents separated, despite his resentment towards his father, Nizam said that she was always there for him whenever he needed her. She also spoke about the year 2022, when she went through heartbreak, where her father was there for her throughout the ordeal. She then spoke about how her father’s death hit her. Nizam said: “I suffered a lot after losing him in January because at that time I had lost two people in a very short time. His advice, laughter and warm hugs helped me recover from my past relationship. But when he died two months after my relationship ended, I lost myself again. »

A month after his death, Nizam found solace in messaging her father as she always did. “I always updated him on what my brother and I were doing. I always texted him about my emotions and what I was going through, hoping that his spirit might be there.” But a day after sending the message, the message turned blue, which would usually be green. She said, “For a second, I felt that he might be alive and I read my message. But I was wrong. A stranger replied to me and informed me that she had a new number. After some of her words, I knew I was like, ‘I can’t text this number on iMessage anymore.’” However, she found a new way to talk to him and started messaging him on Telegram. “Texting him has always given me solace,” she expressed.
