June 2024 UGC NET exam canceled due to compromised integrity; CBI probe ordered

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has released an inquiry into the UGC NET 2024 June exam on June 20, 2024 following the decision of the Ministry of Education and the Government of India to cancel the exam on Wednesday.

The NTA conducted the June 2024 session exam of the University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET) on June 18, 2024 and after the conduct of the exam, a case was registered that some unknown persons had compromised the integrity of the UGC NET exam.

The Education Minister of India, Dharmendra Pradhan, made a statement to the press in which he said, “A fresh examination will be conducted, the information of which will be shared separately. This case is forwarded to the Central Bureau of Investigation for further investigation into this matter.”

“The Ministry of Education also said that this was a case of question leaks. We were informed that the UGC-NET Darknet Questionnaire matched the original UGC-NET Questionnaire, so we have decided to cancel the exam.

As per the official notification of UGC NET exam of June 2024 session, a total of 11,21,225 candidates registered, out of which the exam was taken by 9,08,580 candidates in two shifts.

More than 9 lakh candidates have been affected by the cancellation of UGC NET exam and this has also raised criticism and questions about the education system from the youth and public.

Till now, no official date has been announced for UGC NET June 2024 re-exam. Candidates are advised to check the official website and official Twitter accounts of the authorities for the latest and correct updates regarding the same.
