CEBU CITY, Philippines — A jeepney driver, who allegedly moonlighted as a drug dealer, landed in jail after being arrested with P6.8 million worth of suspected shabu in a buy-bust operation past midnight today, July 1, 2024.

The anti-drug operation was conducted in Sitio Sindulan, Barangay Mabolo, Cebu City, which resulted in the arrest of alias Baldo, 47, a resident of the area.

The suspect was considered a high-value individual in the illegal drug trade.

During the operation, personnel from the Mabolo Police Station were able to confiscate more than one kilo or 1,005 grams of suspected shabu, worth P6.8 million.

According to Police Maj. Romeo Caacoy Jr., chief of the Mabolo police station, the suspect was supplying illegal drugs in their area and neighboring barangays.

According to their investigation, the suspect could have gotten rid of a kilo of illegal drugs every week.

“Dugay-dugay is not a sign of an illegal act,” Caacoy said.

(He has been involved in this illegal activity for some time.)

He said the suspect also operated in the northern part of Cebu.

Police will further investigate the suspect’s involvement in illegal drug trafficking and his allegations that his source of illegal drugs was currently imprisoned in a correctional facility.
