Chennai Corporation Revenue Department officials demand cancellation of transfer orders

The Greater Chennai Corporation (GCC) Revenue Officers’ Association has asked the civic body to quash the transfer orders of tax collectors, licence inspectors and tax assessors.

In a letter to Chief Minister MK Stalin, the association said that the officers had to travel long distances to reach their offices as the new postings were made without considering their conditions back home. The association stressed the need for proper counselling before the transfers as the long distances that the officers have to cover every day to reach their homes to their workplaces is expected to impact revenue collection in the city.

The association also sent a letter on May 18, demanding counseling sessions to review their request before proceeding with the transfer. Many police officers have been transferred without receiving counseling. Some police officers who had not completed three years of service in a department were transferred, while those who had completed three years were not transferred, according to the letter.
