New Delhi: India captain Rohit Sharma shared an emotional post on social media after the Men in Blue beat South Africa by 7 runs in the T20 World Cup final at the Kensington Oval in Barbados.

Team India ended its 11-year ICC Trophy drought and clinched its second T20 World Cup title. After the win, India captain Rohit Sharma said he had no words to express his emotions.

Rohit Sharma announced his retirement from T20I Cricket after the final and said that he loved playing the T20I format and there was no better time to say goodbye to this format. He also said he wants to win the cup

“It was also my last match. I’ve enjoyed it since the moment I started playing this format. It’s time to say goodbye to this format. I loved every moment of it. That’s what I wanted – I wanted to win the cup,” Rohit said in the post-match press conference.

Rohit finished the T20 World Cup as the highest Indian run-scorer in the tournament. He scored 257 runs in 8 matches at an average of 36.71. He also scored three crucial half-centuries against Ireland, Australia and England. Rohit also became the first captain to win the T20 World Cup without losing a single match. He also became the oldest Indian captain to win an ICC tournament final.

‘I am lucky to have players like him in my team’: Rohit Sharma

The Indian captain also praised his team and said that he is lucky to have players like them in the team. He also said that it was the best period of his career.

“I’m very lucky to have players like this in my team, players who play for me and for the Indian team – really, really grateful and appreciative as well. This must be the best time. I can say it. All the points I’ve scored over all these years, it’s important but I’m not a big fan of statistics and all that. Winning matches for India, winning trophies for India – that’s what I look forward to all the time,” Rohit said in the post-match press conference.
