Meet the artists behind Australia’s new Olympics song

Australia’s quest for gold at the Paris Olympics will be driven by an exhilarating new anthem, created with the help of some of our finest musicians and athletes.

The song “Higher” features ARIA Award-winning artist Jessica Mauboy on lead vocals and was written by Australian songwriters Shannon Busch and Stephen Mowat. It all started with musician and producer Will Hyde, who invited Australian athletes to help shape the theme, spirit and lyrics of their Australian team song.

The single will be officially released next Thursday, June 11, and was premiered on the night of the Prime Minister’s Olympic and Paralympic Dinner in Melbourne.

“It’s an absolute honor to lend my voice in support of our incredible Australian athletes,” says Mauboy.

“‘Higher’ captures the spirit and energy of our incredible team, and I know I speak for all Australians when I say we are thrilled to celebrate their dedication, passion and pride in us bring to all.”

“Warner Music is proud to celebrate the dedication and spirit of our Olympians with Team Australia’s song ‘Higher’,” said Dan Rosen, President, Warner Music Australasia. “Jessica Mauboy’s haunting vocals provide an inspiring song for our athletes as they aim for gold at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.”

Australian Olympic Committee President and four-time Olympian Cate Campbell added: “The lyrics of this song capture the reality of an Olympian’s journey to the Games and melodically it’s a brilliant track. It’s an uplifting and awesome chorus. I can imagine our Olympic athletes in Paris singing at the top of their lungs, some better than others. »

Mauboy will then perform “Higher” live in Paris on Wednesday July 24, during the launch of the Australian Olympic Committee flag bearer ceremony at the French Mint (Accueil Monnaie de Paris). She will also perform “Higher” at the Australian Olympic athletes’ homecoming ceremony in Sydney on Wednesday August 14, broadcast live on Channel Nine.
