Jude Bellingham sends blunt message to critics after England’s sensational win in Slovakia

Jude Bellingham sent a strong message to his critics after his sensational goal for England in their 2-1 win over Slovakia on Sunday.

The Three Lions were in danger of being knocked out of the competition after Ivan Schranz put the small fish ahead in the 25th minute.

However, with just 85 seconds left in the match, Bellingham produced a sensational spot-kick to spare England’s blushes.

Harry Kane then scored the winner just a minute into extra time, with the Bayern Munich hitman scoring a header from close range.

Bellingham has been criticised for his inconsistent performances at the tournament so far.

But the England star, speaking after his side’s victory, has now responded by insisting he has confidence in his own abilities.

“I know what I can bring in those moments,” he said.

“No matter what people say, I did it this year for Madrid, I did it before for England. I’m just happy to help the team.”

“A great victory, I qualify for the next round. Very happy.

“It’s been difficult the last few weeks to keep the negative energy out of camp. I think today they will be ready for us.

“We showed the character that England lacked. It’s very important to qualify.”

England were once again poor throughout the match, despite securing victory and qualification for the quarter-finals.

Bellingham, however, insists the Three Lions were not as bad as many think, and says they are still capable of making the big chances count.

“I think the performance was really good up until their goal and even after,” he added.

“We had massive control of the game, we were always threatening in the final third, maybe just missing the finishing touch to create big chances.

“It’s definitely going to be important for us in the future.

“Look who came on. We won this game together. Not me, not Harry (Kane), not the individual moments.

“They are Ivan Toney, Eberechi Eze, Cole Palmer – Bukayo Saka who will become left back.

“That’s the sacrifice you make for the team and that’s the energy we have to keep going no matter what happens.”

Kane also spoke out.

And the England star was delighted with the victory and hailed Bellingham for a magical moment that will be talked about for many years to come.

“When we’re so late in the game and 1-0 down in knockout football, you have to find a way to get yourself out of the hole you’re in,” he said.

“It is not easy to qualify in any stage and reaching the quarter-finals is very pleasant.

“I hope we can take this momentum and move forward now.”
