Some Cook Strait ferry services are cancelled due to forecasted poor weather.

Swells of four to six metres are expected between Tuesday evening and Thursday morning.

All Interislander ferry services are now cancelled from 20:30 on Tuesday until the 08:45 departure on Thursday.

“The safety of our passengers and crew is our top priority,” Interislander said on its website.

“We do not expect the Kaitaki to resume service before the 8:45am departure on Thursday 4 July unless there is a significant improvement in the weather.”

All crossings took place Kaitaki – as Aratere is already out of service after running aground shortly after leaving Picton last month.

Affected passengers are being contacted directly.

Meanwhile, Bluebridge ferries are still operating.

The company says it is monitoring forecasts and will notify customers via text and email if sailings are canceled.
