‘Sui patak sannatta’: BJP questions opposition’s silence on Bengal assault video | India News

NEW DELHI: The Bharatiya Janata Party on Monday slammed the Mamata Banerjee-led government in West Bengal over a video of a man brutally assaulting a couple in public and blamed the Opposition for its silence over the incident.

Targeting Mamata Banerjee, BJP national spokesperson Gaurav Bhatia said, “In North Dinajpur, there is a TMC leader named Tajmul alias JCB who has no faith in the Indian Constitution. On Mamata Banerjee’s request, he says they will deliver speedy justice in the Taliban way.”

“Mamata Banerjee’s faith is no longer in the Constitution; she has given free rein to her party’s goons to impose Sharia law, thus resembling the Taliban regime,” he added.

Bhatia also questioned the INDIA bloc and mocked its leaders for their silence on the issue.

“Are the opposition parties which support the Constitution agree with what is happening in West Bengal?” he asked.
“Kharge ji chup, Sonia Gandhi ji shant, Rahul Gandhi is in the lab sil gye, Akhilesh is in my heart, Arvind is in coma. Kharge ji is silent, Sonia Gandhi ji is calm, Rahul Gandhi’s lips are sealed, Akhilesh is speechless and Arvind Kejriwal is in absolute silence,” he added.

“Only the BJP is raising the issue forcefully,” he added.

Earlier in the day, BJP president JP Nadda on Monday slammed Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee for a “horrible” video.

Speaking to To make matters worse, TMC executives and MLAs are justifying this act.

“Be it Sandeshkhali, Uttar Dinajpur or many other places, Didi’s West Bengal is DANGEROUS for women,” he added.

The West Bengal Police on Sunday registered a case regarding the incident.

The man seen in the video beating a couple with a bamboo stick is said to be a local TMC leader from Chopra in Uttar Dinajpur district, where the incident took place following a kangaroo court order.

The accused, Tajmul alias JCB, has been arrested.
