ESCANABA — Seven area residents have earned bachelor’s degrees from Lake Superior State University (LSSU). The graduates earned their degrees through LSSU’s Escanaba/Iron Mountain Regional Center, which offers bachelor’s degree programs to students on Bay College campuses. The graduates were invited to walk at commencement on May 4.

Autumn Rasner of Wallace, Alexis Roberge of Kingsford and Olivia Saari of Houghton earned bachelor of science degrees in business administration. Rasner and Saari earned a minor in accounting-finance and Roberge earned a minor in marketing.

Jessica Johnson of Escanaba graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and Management.

Amanda Beem of Escanaba and Kyle Kelly of Wells graduated with bachelor of science degrees in criminal justice with a generalist concentration.

Susan Wood of Manistique holds a Bachelor of Science in Teacher Education with a concentration in K-3 group education.

Johnson and Roberge graduated Magna Cum Laude, earning a grade point average of 3.70 to 3.89 on a 4.00 scale. Kelly graduated Cum Laude, earning a grade point average of 3.50 to 3.69 on a 4.00 scale.

“LSSU made my transition from community college to a four-year school easy and made it a smooth and cost-effective transition. I was able to save a lot of money and work on my education from the comfort of my home, which really served me well. I would also like to mention Heidi Rife, who has always been very communicative and helpful. She was a big influence on me by helping me manage my classes and deadlines, so I was never stressed. I recommend LSSU to anyone interested in their programs,” Saari said.

“I am extremely grateful for the regional centre and the opportunities it provides. It has given me the flexibility to work full-time and earn a university degree at the same time, with the benefit and convenience of living in my hometown. Additionally, there are many scholarships available to help students pay for their tuition,” said Roberge.

The students were taking classes at Bay College, which offers LSSU baccalaureate programs at Bay College campuses in Escanaba and Iron Mountain. For more information on available degree programs, contact Heidi Rife at 906-217.4123 or [email protected] or visit www.lssu.edu/regional-center/.
