U.S. President Joe Biden and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu are expected to meet in Washington in a few weeks, during Netanyahu’s visit to the United States for his scheduled speech to Congress on July 24, according to a press release. CNN report.

US and Israeli officials are still working on details for the meeting, which will likely be held at the White House, a source told CNN. CNN that Biden has known Netanyahu for decades and that they “will probably see each other when the prime minister is here later this week. But we have nothing to announce at this time.”

Relations between the United States and Israel have hit a rough patch in recent months, following disagreements between Washington and Jerusalem over the conduct of the war in Gaza. Netanyahu’s statements that the United States is delaying arms shipments to Israel have increased Washington’s frustration with him, and the Americans have tried to prove that his allegations are baseless, except for one arms shipment. During Gallant’s last visit to the United States, American officials reviewed the arms shipments with him in an effort to refute Netanyahu’s allegations.

Last month, Biden said in an interview that Netanyahu could prolong the war to try to cling to power and said it was “not clear” whether Israel had committed war crimes.
