Manchester United have launched their new home kit ahead of the 2024-25 Premier League season.

The Red Devils are looking to bounce back from their worst ever Premier League finish last season as they begin their first full campaign under Sir Jim Ratcliffe.

Ratcliffe has opted to give manager Erik ten Hag a chance to put things right as he has opted against a managerial change, with the Dutchman set to lead the club into another year of rebuilding.

They will do so in a new strip that, in collaboration with adidas, is said to be inspired by the classic shirts worn by the Busby Babes.

It was revealed on Monday morning, with new materials used to help players see each other better on the pitch, although, of course, they are wearing their traditional red.

The design, according to adidas, is inspired by the reflective stripes used by the Busby Babes between 1952 and 1957.

It features a light to dark red gradient running the length of the jersey, included to help with visibility under lights during night games while wearing the stripe.

A red flame-like insert also runs down the side panel of the shirt and shorts.

Adidas’ three stripes also extend down the side of the shoulders, with the brand’s logo, as well as jersey sponsor Snapdragon, appearing in white.

It also includes black socks, with a number of United stars appearing in launch photos shared by the club.

Lisandro Martinez and club captain Bruno Fernandes – who appears with a captain’s armband despite his uncertain future – can be seen in the launch video on the club’s X account, also featuring Gabby George.

Rasmus Hojlund, Alejandro Garnacho, Leah Galton, Scott McTominay and Kobbie Mainoo are also seen involved in promotional photos.

United have opted to keep faith with manager Erik Ten Hag for the new campaign.

Sam Handy, senior vice president of product and design at adidas, said: “The color red is still fundamental to the club’s DNA. There have been many different expressions over the years and for 24-25 we wanted to do something a little different.

“We took inspiration from the jerseys that Manchester United experimented with between 1952 and 1957, when floodlights were introduced into stadiums. These were fantastic early examples of creative design in match kits and were worn by some of the club’s most legendary players.

“The color-changing appearance of this jersey has been a big influence in the modern expression of this season’s home kit, designed to attract attention from every angle on the pitch.”
