Idavela Babu slams AMMA members for silence during cyber attack

Actor Idavela Babu, who resigned as general secretary of the Association of Malayalam Film Artists (AMMA), has criticised his colleagues for remaining silent when he fell victim to a cyber attack. In his farewell address at the AMMA annual meeting in Kochi on Sunday, the actor alleged that he was made a scapegoat for several issues that had arisen in the organisation. “But none of you have spoken in my favour. There is a limit to what I can say for myself while holding this post,” he said. He also urged them to show more support for the new office-bearers who took oath at the meeting that ended at 6 pm. Siddique replaced Idavela Babu as the new general secretary of AMMA.
Idavela Babu, meanwhile, also addressed rumors suggesting he was a “paid secretary”. “Some people accuse me of being a ‘paid secretary’. In fact, it was Jagathy Sreekumar who was the first to suggest that I receive a salary for my work in AMMA. Although this recommendation was not heeded for a long time, nine years ago I started getting paid for my work. Then it was Rs 30,000. Later, the amount was increased to Rs 50,000. From there, I paid Rs 20,000 to my driver and Rs 20,000 for my accommodation,” he said. he declares.
Idavela Babu, who has been serving as the general secretary of AMMA for the last 25 years, highlighted his efforts in developing the association. He added that film shoots were never delayed under his leadership. He also revealed that a sum of Rs 6.5 crore has been set aside for the future functioning of AMMA.
