“Grace notes were just a way to cover up the main mistake of document leak” — candidates on revised NEET UG results

Five of the top six students, who had achieved the maximum score of 720, retook the test and this time, none of them managed to make it onto the list of top performers. Thus, the final list of the best students is now limited to 61, instead of the 67 previously announced. However, these five students still scored above 680.

The results of the retest had no significant effect on the rankings and final results.

“The pardons were only a means of covering up the main error. This has not solved the problem that the candidates are facing. My rank has only improved by 34 places, it makes no difference,” said Surbhi Singh, who had initially scored 650 marks in NEET UG 2024. Her rank was 29,487, which was revised to 29,453.

Another student whose rank was 14,622 with 670 marks, had his rank revised to 14,598.

“It was a waste of time. The main problem remains. The high inflation happened because of the leaked documents, but the government and the NTA are not talking about it,” said the student, who wished to remain anonymous.

Students and activists continue to demand that an exam for NEET UG be held again.

“After retesting 1,563 students, the new results and rankings did not show much difference. Some students’ rankings changed by 20 to 25 places, while others saw minor improvements. Overall, the situation remains similar to before. I had already mentioned that grace notes would not significantly affect rankings, and now it is obvious,” said medical influencer and RTI activist Dr Vivek Pandey. “The main problem still revolves around NEET document leak scam and corruption. Until action is taken against this, there will be no noticeable change. It is because of this corruption that we have seen ranking inflation five times this year. »

Meanwhile, parents took to social media to express their frustration.

For the make-up test, attendance at test centers varied across states. Gujarat recorded the highest turnout of 100%, while Chandigarh recorded none.

Two candidates were eligible for the exam in Chandigarh, but none of them appeared. In Chhattisgarh, a total of 602 candidates were eligible, but 291 (48.34%) appeared for the exam.

In Jhajjar, Haryana, the retest was held at two centres – DAV Police Training College and Kendriya Vidyalaya. In these centres, 287 out of 494 eligible candidates (58.09%) appeared.
