Haverstraw police are warning residents of a parking ticket scam circulating via text messages.

The fake texts appear to come from “NEW YORK CITYPAY” claiming that the recipients have an unpaid parking ticket.

However, authorities say these messages are fraudulent and urge people not to click on any links provided.

“Always independently verify any unpaid bill by contacting the billing company directly,” Haverstraw police advised in a statement.
