Cat Deeley reveals she has Ben Shephard’s security badge

Cat Deeley admitted on Wednesday that she narrowly missed out on This Morning due to a security lapse.

Cat, 47, revealed on Instagram that her co-host Ben Shephard had her security badge and she had his, preventing her from entering the ITV building ahead of Wednesday’s show. It comes as This Morning was forced to go on hiatus on Tuesday, with Cat forced to briefly leave the studio.

Posting a video of her hair being done on Wednesday, Cat said: “Had a bit of a security glitch today, barely managed to get into the building…”, to which she showed off Ben, 49, his security badge. Cat captioned the video: “@benshephardofficial may be having some issues @thismorning he has my badge!!!” with laughing emojis.

It’s been a dramatic week for Cat, who had to briefly leave the studio on Tuesday. The presenter, who admitted at the start of the show that she was suffering from a bad cold, had to leave the set after suffering a coughing fit while hosting a segment with TV doctors on antidepressants.

Her on-screen partner Ben was therefore forced to present the show alone before Cat later joined him in the studio after her coughing fit. During the segment, Cat began coughing before she was seen leaving the set with Ben, 49, explaining: “I think Cat needs to slip away because she’s about to have a coughing fit! We’ve got doctors here, everything’s fine!”, to which Tony, one of the TV doctors, asked if Cat was okay.

Cat later returned to the studio where Ben asked her if she had recovered, to which the star admitted that her eye was running and she was taking a Strepsil to stop coughing more. On Twitter, now X, viewers expressed concern for Cat, with one saying: “I hope Cat is ok. I’ve had coughing fits like this and it’s not funny #ThisMorning”, another wrote: “Well done Cat for being brave”, while another added: “Someone get Cat some buttercup syrup #ThisMorning!”

This comes as Cat admitted at the start of the show that she wasn’t feeling very well. Speaking to Lorraine Kelly to tell her about what was happening on This Morning, Ben said: “A very busy show for you this morning, but Cat has a bad cold I’m afraid…”, to which Cat admitted she wasn’t feeling very well.
