Jamie Foxx Breaks Silence on Mysterious Illness: ‘I Saw the Tunnel’

Hollywood actor Jamie Foxx recently opened up about his mysterious hospitalization that occurred last April. The incident, which began with a severe headache, left Foxx unable to recall the events that followed. While speaking to fans outside a restaurant in Phoenix, Arizona, the actor shared what little he remembered about the medical emergency that led to his extended hospital stay.

According to Foxx, the ordeal began on April 11 when he had a severe headache and asked his friend for an Advil. “I was out for 20 days,” he revealed. The actor’s daughter, Corinne Foxx, initially informed the public of her father’s hospitalization on April 12, saying he was recovering from a medical complication. However, no further details were provided at the time.

During his interaction with fans, Foxx admitted that he had no recollection of what happened after he asked for the Advil. “I don’t remember anything,” he said. The actor explained that his sister and daughter took him to a doctor in Atlanta, where he received a cortisone injection. However, it was another doctor who expressed concern about his condition. “There’s something going on up there,” Foxx said, though he refrained from revealing the specific diagnosis.

“I wouldn’t wish what I went through on my worst enemy, because it’s hard when it’s almost over… when you see the tunnel. I saw the tunnel, I didn’t see the light,” Foxx said.

Foxx expressed gratitude for the outpouring of support and prayers he received during his recovery. In an emotional Instagram post, he said, “I went through something I thought I would never experience. I know a lot of people were waiting or wanting to hear from me, and to be honest with you, I just didn’t want you to see me like this.”

Representatives for the actor have not commented further on his health issues. However, since his recovery, Foxx has gradually returned to the spotlight with the support of his loved ones. He has stressed the importance of cherishing life and pursuing one’s goals, a perspective he gained from his near-death experience.

Despite the challenges he has faced, Foxx remains committed to his acting career and has several projects in the works. Foxx is involved in the highly anticipated Mike Tyson biopic and will star alongside Robert De Niro and Scott Eastwood in the action thriller “Tin Soldier.”

Inspired by his renewed appreciation for life, Foxx also launched his own whiskey brand BSB. “I’ve learned that life is precious, which is why it’s so important for us to pursue what we want,” he said.

The actor, who rose to fame on the comedy show “In Living Color” and later starred in his own sitcom, has two daughters, Corinne and Anelise. As he continues to reflect on his journey and the impact of his recent health issues, Foxx remains determined to enjoy life and the opportunities it presents.

Jamie Foxx’s mysterious hospitalization has undoubtedly left fans concerned and curious about the details surrounding his medical emergency. While the actor has chosen to keep the details private, his openness about the emotional and physical toll of the experience has resonated with many.
