John Deere Classic: Best PGA TOUR Golf Bets, Predictions and Odds to Consider at DraftKings Sportsbook

The PGA TOUR heads to Illinois this week for the John Deere Classic. TPC Deere Run will host the event, featuring a 7,268-yard par 71 with bentgrass greens. We have another full 156-player event on the schedule with a 36-hole cut.

Below I have outlined my two favorite bets of the week.

McNealy wasn’t at his best with his irons last week in Detroit, losing 2.91 strokes on the approach. However, I’m willing to give him a chance since he’s won in that department in three of his last four starts. The two things McNealy excels at – driving and putting – he dominated again last week, gaining 4.3 strokes on the greens and 2.3 strokes off the tee.

After three weeks off the course, McNealy was expected to be a little rusty at Rocket Mortgage, and that’s exactly what happened, as he settled for a 44th-place finish. A week later, he’ll return to TPC Deere Run, a course where he’s finished 18th and eighth in each of his last two starts.

McNealy has been knocking on the door of his first career PGA TOUR victory this season, posting three top-10s in 15 starts, along with two additional top-17s. Only Aaron Rai in this field has gained more total strokes over the last 48 rounds than McNealy, and he is 10 points behind on DK Sportsbook.

I’ll happily take this 30/1 number over a course that has suited the California native in the past.

Hossler finally broke through with his irons last week, gaining 4.3 strokes on the approach for the first time since the Obama administration. While that’s obviously a joke, it’s been a long time since we’ve seen Hossler display such ball-striking prowess, which means we need to hit while the iron is still hot.

Ironically, Hossler was awful last week with the one club in his bag that never lets him down, his putter. That probably won’t last very long, and a bounce-back performance on the greens is very likely this week, especially when you consider that Jordan Spieth and Dylan Frittelli are the only golfers in this group (minimum 8 rounds) to average more putting strokes per round at TPC Deere Run than Hossler.

In three career starts at the JDC, the Texan with the visor has twice finished in the top 28, between two missed attempts. If his ball-striking performance from last week holds up, he will absolutely be in the running on Sunday.
