Britney Spears Breaks Silence on 2003 Affair with Colin Farrell

Britney Spears has spoken out about her brief romance with Colin Farrell in her upcoming memoir, The Woman In Me, comparing it to a “street fight.”

The 41-year-old met the 47-year-old Irish actor through a “club promoter friend” before visiting him on the set of his 2003 film SWAT following her split from Justin Timberlake.

In an excerpt obtained by TIME, Spears described their “passionate” affair as a “street fight,” writing that they were “both on top of each other.”

“Fight is the only word for it – we were all on top of each other, fighting so passionately it was like we were in a street fight,” she wrote.

But Spears was quickly “disappointed” when she attended the premiere of Farrell’s film The Recruit, where he told reporters: “We’re not dating. She’s a very nice girl. There’s nothing going on, we’re just friends.”

The Toxic singer added: “As I had done before when I felt too attached to a man, I tried by all means to convince myself that it was not serious, that we were just having fun, that in this case, I was vulnerable because I had not yet forgotten Justin.

“For a brief moment, I thought there might be something there. The disappointments in my love life were just part of the isolation I had felt. I felt uncomfortable all the time.”

It was previously claimed that lawyers for Timberlake and Farrell had threatened legal action, delaying the release of Spears’ book by “four months.”

A source told The Sun: “Lawyers demanded to see his book in advance and insisted that certain revelations be suppressed.

“There are still a lot of amazing stories, but Justin and Colin were aware of what could be said about them.

“The legal process delayed publication for four months as discussions raged over what might be included. But that issue has finally been resolved and his autobiography is ready for publication.”

The Woman In Me is set to be released on Tuesday, October 24, but will not contain any details about her split from third husband Sam Asghari, who filed for divorce in August after 14 months of marriage.
