Chicago Cubs rookie sets new franchise record

The Chicago Cubs are hoping Pete Crow-Armstrong becomes a vital part of their long-term future. He has tremendous potential, but he has struggled to deliver during his time with the major league team.

Despite a slow start to his major league career, Crow-Armstrong found a way to make a difference. He may have struggled at the plate, but his defense and baserunning were excellent.

At just 22 years old, Crow-Armstrong is still in his early stages. He has plenty of time for his production to reach the level the Cubs hope it will.

Even though his bat isn’t firing at full speed, he’s actually made franchise history.

As shared by Christopher Kamka of Marquee SportsCrow-Armstrong is the first Cubs player to start a season with 15 of 15 stolen base attempts.

Crow-Armstrong is doing what any young player must do to stay at the major league level.

He may struggle in one area of his game, but he’s forcing Chicago to keep playing him. The plays he’s able to make in the outfield are impressive. Now his baserunning is becoming elite.

During the 2024 season, the young outfielder played in 51 games. He hit for an average of .192/.243/.277 and hit a home run in addition to 13 RBIs.

Obviously, those stats aren’t enough on offense. However, he still has potential at the plate and the Cubs believe he can make himself a serious threat with his bat.

Looking ahead, Chicago will need him to develop. He is arguably the most talented prospect on the team. If he reaches his full potential, he has the potential to be a true superstar.

That being said, it will be interesting to see what the rest of the season holds for Crow-Armstrong. Depending on what happens over the next few weeks, the Cubs could look very different than they do now.

One thing is for sure: Crow-Armstrong is part of the team’s long-term plans. They have a lot of faith in him and he will have to work hard to prove him right.
